I’ll never be the same again and that’s okay!

Dear Diamond Girl,

I hope this message finds you well. As many of you know, last November brought an unexpected fire that changed my life forever, taking away not just my home but also my four beloved pets.

This experience has been a profound journey through grief and chaos, and I know many in California are facing similar challenges and hope my video journey may help them and others.

Bring back my happiness

As humans, we often resist change, yearning for stability in a world where the unexpected can shake us to our core. Each day, we learn to navigate our emotions, embracing the sadness, chaos and joy moment by moment.

Heartbreak, anxiety, loss and grief can be a difficult path, yet I’ve discovered some tools that have helped me through this heartbreak.

My ABCs to Get Him Back course will help you navigate all aspects of loss and heartbreak, but here’s an overview of what’s helping me each day and QUESTIONS for YOU:

  1. Look for the Positive: I remind myself that the pain I feel honors the love I had for my home and pets. This reflection helps me process my grief and find meaning in my loss. How can you search for the positive behind what you’re currently experiencing?
  2. Give Emotions an Outlet: Emotions can build up in our bodies, so I make a point to move—whether running, walking, swimming or stretching. This movement helps me release tension and find comfort. What movements best release tension from your body?
  3. Sit with My Feelings: I allow myself to fully experience my emotions without rushing through them. Recently, I ditched a grocery store trip in exchange for a solid cry to express my gratitude for my cat, Purrfect. Acknowledging my feelings helped me honor our bond. (See my video on tapping your heart to send him love.) How can you honor the important person, pet, event or item that you dearly miss?
  4. Practice Gratitude: In moments of despair, I look around and remind myself of all the small blessings in my life. Whether it’s the chair I sit on or the air I breathe, gratitude helps me find grace amidst grief. Look around right now: can you name 3 things that hold you up and you’re grateful to have?

Discover who you are

Remember, our thoughts are not always truths, and it’s okay to sit with your emotions while observing how they affect you. You are not your thoughts, nor are you what is or has happened to you.

You get to decide how you handle grief, heartbreak and loss.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Let’s continue to support each other as we face life’s unexpected turns.

With love and gratitude,
